Questions?

Q: What kind of people do you tend to work with?

My clients are intelligent, motivated people who are experiencing some trouble in their life such as relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression or difficulties with a life transition. They feel ready to make a change and move beyond some past issue or limitation to create a more fulfilling life. I work primarily with adults, from young adult college students to senior citizens in their seventies and eighties.

Q: When do you see clients?

I have office hours at my Lebanon, New Hampshire office on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Friday afternoons. While my regular hours are 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, I can see clients as early as 7:00 am, and as late as 7:00 pm, but only by appointment.

I also offer convenient lunch hour appointments for people who work in the Downtown Lebanon or Hanover, New Hampshire areas.

Q: How often would I come in?

My experience is that weekly sessions work well to provide the best momentum for creating and sustaining change in your life; however, session frequency is something we will agree on individually to take into consideration occupational, financial, and family responsibilities, as well as stage of therapy. For example, at times I will see clients as often as twice weekly at the beginning of therapy or in times of crisis. At other times, to maintain therapy gains or to provide ‘boosters,’ I will see clients as infrequently as every three to six months. In short, we will meet as often as you need.

Q: How many sessions would I see you?

The specific number of sessions is entirely up to you. It depends greatly on your goal, the complexity of the situation, and your readiness to change. I will be available to you for as long as you need me. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is brief and time-limited. It is considered among the most rapid in terms of results obtained. The average number of sessions clients participate in (across all types of problems and approaches to CBT) is only 16. Many of the treatment programs I recommend are designed to be completed in as few as eight to twelve sessions. Some clients see substantial progress in substantially fewer sessions. Other clients, with very complex situations, prefer a longer term of therapy.

Q: How long does a session last?

Therapy sessions run 50 minutes. Sometimes, we will decide that a longer session is needed, and we will discuss and agree upon a longer session in advance. In other situations, we will agree on shorter sessions, depending on your needs.

Q: What is your fee?

Please refer to my Fees & Insurance Page.

Q: How does this work with my insurance?

Please refer to my Fees & Insurance Page.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, check, as well as credit (MasterCard, VISA, and Discover) and debit cards.

Q: Are you accepting new clients?

I limit my practice to 25-30 sessions per week so that I may bring my full-attention and energy to you and your situation. I am currently accepting a limited number of new clients. In the rare event that I have to put clients on a short wait list, I can also work with you to find a psychologist or other mental health professional that can provide more immediate care.
